Volunteer comments and Stories

Heather... My second summer volunteering at HRETC was just as awesome as the first, if not more! The addition of the covered arena and sprinkler system was a welcome addition to ward off the hot summer sun. It was definitely effective with the late morning rides keeping the kids more comfortable and alert. That goes for the horses, too!

All of the Therapists and instructors are so giving and patient in working with the kids, taking care of the horses and giving specia lize d instruction and information to the volunteers about each child's challenge. Their instruction for participation during the lesson helps us motivate the child to achieve accomplishments they don't always think they can do. The smiles and laughter of each child is priceless and warms my heart in a way nothing else does!

Thanks again Cheri and staff for another memorable summer at the ranch! Already looking forward to next summer!

Janet... On top of being a wonderful facility and service to the community, Humble Ranch provides an empowering and supportive environment for volunteers. Thanks to all the staff for a perfect volunteer experience!

Julie... I will be back. It has been one of the most fulfilling volunteer experiences I have ever had in my life.

Julie... I think my favorite day this year was with Ms. Delaney, when Judy had her waving like the Queen of England from atop her steed. I've never seen just a big grin on such a little girl! Of course, all of her entourage were charmed and left that day with warm hearts!

Sonja... I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at Humble Ranch this summer! The program and staff is top notch and despite the potentially chaotic situation of being staffed so heavily with volunteers, the place runs like a well-oiled machine. It is truly impressive how professional the staff is and how well they work with the many volunteers of all different personality types.

From the May training to the September Celebration, the program seemed to progress along a well-organized continuum. As a volunteer, it kept me motivated to see how well everything worked and to feel that my effort contributed in a small way to keeping this buzzing along. Don't have a particular story but I will say that it was very touching to be a part of the learning process with the children that I interacted with. In every session I saw them make progress and it was amazing!
