Humble Ranch Education & Therapy Center

Humble Beginnings

Humble Ranch Education and Therapy Center, a 501©3 nonprofit, was founded in 2000 by physical therapist Cheri Trousil. What began as a small team of dedicated therapists and horses serving children and adults with special needs in the Yampa Valley soon grew into a thriving program. At its peak, HRETC’s herd of 10 therapy horses supported over 60 children each season with the help of 80 passionate volunteers.

Empowering Healing

Today, Cheri continues to provide equine assisted therapies to a wide range of clients. In recent years, HRETC has shifted its focus from serving those with special needs to working with a variety of clients through workshops and retreats. These programs focus on grief support, leadership development, and Equine-Assisted Coaching/Learning. Each experience offers participants a unique opportunity to connect with the herd and explore the profound healing power of these wise equine teachers.

Kay Combs Memorial Arena

Honoring a Heart of Gold

We are proud to dedicate our covered arena to the memory of Kay Combs whose love for both people and horses left a lasting mark on Humble Ranch. Her spirit lives on in the heart of this inclusive space.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Forever in our hearts."

Thank You To Our Donors

We extend our deepest gratitude to The Hadley and Marion Stuart Foundation and to Larry Combs, in loving memory of Kay Combs, for their generous support of the Humble Ranch Education and Therapy Center.
